Mother tongue language programmes
Our curriculum is based on extensive knowledge of language development and language teaching. We integrate language objectives with interesting and informative content that connects the world a child is living in now with the world they come from. We aim to develop a wide range of language skills from verbal to written.

Classroom pedagogy
In our classes we use a wide range of lesson materials and cater to different levels and learning styles. Our aim is always to inspire and motivate students to continue to use and enjoy their mother tongue. Our teachers receive regular professional development in different aspects of language teaching, curriculum development and pedagogy, and work together across groups and locations to continually develop and improve the LanguageOne approach.

Heterogeneous groups
A mother tongue school abroad has a specific character, as there are often significant differences between the language levels of children in a group. Our teachers are used to working with mixed groups and providing differentiated learning opportunities.
In a single group, there may be pupils who:

• have just arrived from their home country
• have never attended a school in their home country
• have only one parent who speaks the “mother tongue” of the class

If we cannot meet the diverse needs of a particular group of students we may recommend separating them into different levels to improve educational outcomes.

Extra guidance or a faster pace
If your child is struggling with the lesson material, we can repeat it or enhance it. We also use methods that enable children to work independently at their own level. And if pupils fall behind, we make a specific plan of action for them.
